http://touraynewmedia.blogspot.com/2018/06/blog-social-networking-sites.html In this post, I'll discuss my impressions of Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram and LinkedIn. All social media sites, they're all niched in
their offerings and user base but also rooted in the same functionality
with respect to their users creating content. Facebook users post photos
and messages meant for friends and families' reaction, Twitter users
microblog almost instantaneously about their daily activities,
Instagrammers post photos and videos of themselves soliciting likes
& the LinkedIn audience seek information for the next job and read
articles relating to their areas of interests.
While Facebook used to be about photos of its users, it has now fast
become an ecosystem engaged in far more than photo-sharing: it's an
advertisement behemoth targeting its over one billion users; Twitter on
the other hand, while highly monetizing its user base, it's come to
represent the heartbeat of the Internet, it's a race to tweeting per
second worldwide; Instagram has yet become the photography center of the
web with a sprawling growth in its celebrity base and LinkedIn is busy
being the breach between users and jobs. They each have become relevant,
independent of each other by specializing on their core strengths.
It's worthy of mention that these sites have all attracted and continue to impact the online cyberspace and many users have presence on all four sites. Perhaps what's even more interesting is that albeit being interactive platforms with users dictating what's hot and what not and hence more similarity between them, logging in the apps of each site give users a different feel. I however seem to be of the opinion that some are more addicting than others: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram are more sticky than LinkedIn. And yet, LinkedIn could be just as sticky when one is in the job market searching for employment.
Each user might have a different feel for how they interact on each site and hence how they interpret the sites. In the end, they're all social media and networking sites born out of different use, need and utility and users choice to leverage each may be around for some time.
